Posted on February 4, 2012 by admin

Out of all tips for weight loss and dieting only few are valid for losing weight. Others are just dieting myths and have no factual base to them. Here are 5 popular dieting myths with fact and explanations about them.

    1. Myth – Indulging is bad

    • Fact –Its overindulging that matters
    • Elaboration – Having good food is not a crime and treating yourself once in a while is not a bad practice.  Diets which extremely restrictive immediately fall down in their results. Losing weight is all about harmony and working all interlinked factors right.

    2. Myth – Carbohydrates are bad and make you fat

    • Fact - A balanced diet is never complete without carbohydrates, aka carbs
    • Elaboration -Again it’s the calories that are responsible for making you fat not carbohydrates. All you need is moderation, while eating and cutting carbohydrates. It is the fats and sugar in carbohydrates that are fattening.

    3. Myth – Vegetarian diet can help lose weight

    • Facts - Vegetarian diet can abet weight loss, not influence it
    • Elaboration - Yes the calories and fats for vegetarian diet is less as compared to non-vegetarian diet, but only when it’s planned right. More often a vegetarian diet amounts to same in terms of calories as a meat diet, if it is not planned right. Diet plans like HCG Diet Washington help to plan diet right, so that calorie intake is right.

    4. Myth – Dairy products are unhealthy and fattening

    • Fact - It is the degree of fat that counts
    • Elaboration - Taking a lot of high fat diary products will surely contribute to your weight. Therefore amend your dietary choice to restrict the over loading of fats contributing to calorie intake. Diary foods like milk, yogurt, and cheese are low fat and highly nutritious. Body requires these food groups and ignoring it completely is not a good heath practice

    5. Myth – Drinking more water make you lose weight

    • Fact – No factual evidence present
    • Elaboration - Drinking water alone cannot induce weight loss. Hunger and thirst mechanism work differently and connecting two makes no relation. Yes drinking 8 – 10 glasses water a day keeps your body hydrated, detoxed and healthy, but not necessarily help in weight loss.
